About the songbook
Everybody needs Beauty is a collection of songs, rounds and carols created and arranged for voices by Jane Harris, Director of Songways:
For as long as I can remember, I have had songs and tunes going round in my head. I remember singing myself to sleep as a child and walking home from school playing tunes on my recorder, often making them up as I went.
This songbook includes songs to celebrate the beauty of the natural world, carols set to fiddle tunes that I love to play, settings of quotations and poems that I find beautiful, and rounds to mark the changing seasons. The songs are suitable for many different singing groups, from community choirs to church choirs and schools. Many of them can easily be adapted to suit your own particular group of singers and all can be taught by ear, making them accessible to all.
It has been a great joy to create songs for my Songways choirs and to hear the songs come to life as we sing them. I hope that you enjoy singing them as much as we do.
