JOINING SONGWAYS
We are looking for adult singers of all ages to join us. Lift your voice and immerse yourself in glorious harmonies, develop your voice and discover new singing styles. We love singing together, we are friendly and welcoming and we make a good sound.
What do we sing? Uplifting songs from a wide range of harmony singing traditions. Discover rich South African choruses, beautiful and evocative folk songs, lively rhythmic American songs, vibrant Eastern European songs and powerful songs of freedom. Enjoy original songs specially written for Songways by Jane, new songs from visiting tutors and songs of stillness and peace.

Bath Abbey lunchtime concert
How do we sing? Jane teaches by ear, singing each part using a call and response and layering up harmonies part by part. If you haven’t experienced this before, you will be amazed how quickly and beautifully a song comes together. We usually sing gathered in a circle so that everyone can see and hear each other. Sometimes we move the group around to experience songs in new ways and to explore different styles of singing, all of which enlivens and enriches the experience. For some songs we add instruments – violin, bouzouki, banjo or guitar – which adds yet another dimension.
Why sing? Singing makes you feel good and has proven health benefits: it’s good for posture, breathing and general well-being. Singing in harmony with others can be fun, heart-warming, soothing and at times deeply moving. It’s also a great way to make friends.
