Beautiful Light | Songs of joy, hope and peace
Directed by Jane Harris
Special guest Emma Hooper | Viola, electronics and vocals

Guitar | Giles Coker
Fiddle | Jane Harris

Seventy singers from the three Songways choirs performed a glorious set of songs in the beautiful setting of St Luke’s Church, Bath, enjoyed by a large and appreciative audience. We were thrilled to perform with the fine musician and singer, Emma Hooper (Waitress for the Bees) adding another whole level of  richness to several of our songs.

The programme included songs of joy, hope and peace from a wide range of harmony singing traditions including America, South Africa, Tanzania, Corsica, Macedonia, Taize, an original carol by Jane Harris and the rousing English folk anthem, Sing John Ball.  After the interval, Emma performed an enchanting set of her own original songs, creating wonderful tapestries of sound.

Some comments from the audience:

The choir was so inspiring
A fabulous concert with a superb range of songs
I didn’t want it to end…

Warmest thanks to all the singers and to everyone who gave so generously to the retiring collection. We collected an amazing £600 for B&NES Carers’ Centre’s work with Young Carers and The Amber Trust.

We will be performing at St Luke’s again with Emma Hooper on Saturday 5 December 2020. Please join our mailing list to ensure you receive details.

Jane Harris teaches all our songs and harmonies by ear. If you’re local to Bath/Bradford on Avon, come and sing with us… more information here.
