Singers from Songways joined a massed choir performance of 850 singers on Sunday 10 July from across the South West in front of the magnificent Royal Crescent in Bath for Sing for Water West. We even managed to sing in sunshine, with the heavens only opening moments after our last song.
Songways singers have raised £1128, (making a total of nearly £1300 including GiftAid). Warmest thanks to all who sang and to everyone who came to listen and support the event.
The funds raised will help to transform the lives of communities in Oromia, Ethiopia – an area where there is real need for long-lasting supplies of safe water and sanitation. In this new project, WaterAid aims to reach more than 35,000 people with safe water and more than 8,800 with improved toilets by 2018.
£15 can help provide one person with access to safe water.
£28 could pay for to construct a latrine for one household.
£115 could train a community hygiene promoter.
I have seen WaterAid’s partners in action and the difference access to safe drinking water and sanitation makes to people’s health, spirits and life opportunities. Thank you for taking part and supporting Sing for Water – the money you raise will change lives. Helen Chadwick, founder of Sing for Water
