The combined voices of 70 singers from the three Songways choirs filled the magnificent Edington Priory, near Bratton, beneath the Westbury White Horse on a gloriously crisp winter’s day.  Having sung twice at Edington Priory in the summer, we were delighted to return to this special venue for our Christmas gathering this year.  Our programme included a lively village carol from Somerset, two beautiful folk carols with fiddle accompaniment, traditional rounds, a spirited freedom song from America, rich South African choruses and more.

A total of £200 in donations was collected for Wiltshire Air Ambulance and both singers & audience enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies after the singing.  Warmest thanks to all who contributed to make it such a lovely festive occasion.

We are pleased to be supporting Wiltshire Air Ambulance, a registered charity providing an essential helicopter emergency medical service throughout the county and beyond. For over twenty years, the helicopter and crew have been involved in more than 18,000 missions involving medical emergencies and accidents, ranging from serious sports injuries to multiple vehicle collisions. They attend, on average, 2-3 potentially life-saving missions a day. The air ambulance is available 19 hours a day with 12% of call outs at night; this vital service offers patients the best possible prospect of survival and full recovery. WAA can be at an incident anywhere in the county in just 11 minutes, but it’s not only the speed of the helicopter that can help save lives, but also the specialist skills of the highly trained paramedics on board.
