Seventy-five singers from the three Songways choirs combined for a wonderful evening of festive and celebratory songs in the beautiful St Swithin’s Church on Saturday 8 December 2018.
Our Christmas set included glorious songs and carols from a wide range of harmony singing traditions, including Scotland, Cornwall, America, South Africa, Corsica and original compositions by Jane Harris, Director of Songways.
We were delighted to welcome special guest, singer-songwriter Jennifer Crook, who accompanied the choir (harp and banjo) for three special songs, with Giles Coker on guitar and Jane on fiddle. After the interval, Jennifer performed her own set of songs, joined for the final two songs by Jane on fiddle and backing vocals.
Comments from the audience:
Beautiful and moving…
I’ve never seen a choir in which everyone looks so happy…
What a great sound…
And from the singers:
It was a joy to sing with you. Wonderful songs and leadership. Thank you!
A really lovely evening
Warmest thanks to everyone for giving generously to the charity collection: we collected £350 for Julian House and the Bradford on Avon Hub.
