Our first ever online singing workshop took place on Sunday 10 May 7:30pm UK time via Zoom.
It was wonderful to sing with 65 singers across the miles from the far west of Cornwall to Fort William, from Norfolk to North Wales, from California to Georgia, Massachusetts and Vermont, and from Amsterdam to Toronto. Thank you to everyone who took part.
That was amazing… and so well organised
Thank you so much for the wonderful opportunity to sing with the world
Regular online singing workshops are planned on Sunday evenings UK time.

Led by Jane Harris, Director of Songways
We started the workshop with vocal exercises to open up our voices. I then taught two songs each in four part harmony: my own composition In the beauty of the world, find rest and be free, from my album, One touch of nature, and the lively English folk song, Sing John Ball, which I led with my violin. I rounded off the session with a fiddle tune for everyone to enjoy. After the session, there was the chance to stay and chat with other singers in smaller groups using the Zoom break-out rooms – a lovely opportunity to connect with singing friends old and new.
I used a mix of my own voice and violin live, my own harmony recordings and other source recordings to give us as rewarding a singing experience as possible. I’ve been leading online sessions for our regular Songways choirs in this way using Zoom and it’s working really well.
