Singing workshop with Kathy Bullock from the US

Eighty singers enjoyed a superb singing workshop with Dr Kathy Bullock from Kentucky, US, in the fine setting of St Luke’s Church, Bath. Kathy led the singing with immense passion and warmth, from the wonderful St Luke’s grand piano, and spoke eloquently, giving us an insight into the origins and context of the African-American songs. Beginning with traditional spirituals, songs of great depth and emotion, we moved on to the powerful concert spiritual, Done made my vow to the Lord. This was followed by vibrant, upbeat gospel songs, the dynamic South African freedom song Tshotsholoza and a beautifully tender contemporary song, I believe, written only a couple of years ago. The workshop drew together singers from as far afield as Chester, Leicester and Stratford on Avon and many local singers from Bath and the surrounding area. It was an immensely rich and rewarding day for us all.

Absolutely amazing experience

An unforgettable day …  powerful and spirit-filled

Exhilarating, uplifting and at times, deeply moving
