Cornwall singing workshop with Jane Harris, Director of Songways
A wonderful group of 65 singers from all across West Cornwall gathered for the half-day workshop with Jane Harris in Marazion, hosted by Pip Wright and Kana Kernow.
Jane taught her new composition, Celtic Song Trio, a collaboration with Cornish poet Julie Tonkin – three related songs inspired by images and phrases from Cornwall, Brittany and Wales. The central song is based on the Cornish phrase Kescana Kescolon, to sing together with one accord, and particularly resonated with several singers who come from fishing and Cornish speaking families. Jane also taught the group her song, Everybody needs Beauty, based on the words of the pioneering conservationist, John Muir.

Kana Kernow (Singing Cornwall) has been organising fantastic workshops in West Cornwall since 2013. This event was hosted by local singing leader Pip Wright. Kana Kernow workshops are relaxed and friendly – all singers are welcome, whether or not they sing in a choir or read music.
