It was such a joy to bring singers from the three Songways choirs together for our concert Saturday 4 December in the beautiful setting of St Luke’s Church, Bath. Huge thanks to everyone who sang and warmest thanks to our wonderful audience. The retiring collection came to nearly £600 and online donations bring the final total raised to £700 to share between Julian House & Julia’s House Children’s Hospice. It was a treat too to collaborate with Emma Hooper of Waitress for the Bees and Red Carousel.

The programme included festive and celebratory songs from England, America, South Africa and Macedonia, and original songs by Jane Harris including the first performance of two new carols, Long slow journey and Bring in the holly. We were joined for three songs by the fine musician and singer, Emma Hooper. After the interval, Emma performed a highly original solo set, with her captivating combination of viola, electronics and vocals. To round off the evening, Jane and Emma joined voices in an a cappella duet of the Judy Garland classic, Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

Interested in singing with us? From January 2022 Jane will be leading Songways choirs on Wednesday evenings in Bath and Friday mornings in Bradford on Avon. Contact Jane for more details.
