Singers from the combined Songways choirs performed a wonderful programme of festive & celebratory songs in the beautiful setting of St Luke’s Church, thoroughly enjoyed by our audience. The evening featured songs from Sheffield, Scotland, Macedonia, Corsica, America and South Africa, and original carols by Jane Harris – Bring in the holly and A Wassail for us all, newly composed in October this year.
We were joined for three songs by the fine singer and instrumentalist, Emma Hooper. After the interval, Emma performed a solo set, with her captivating combination of viola, electronics and vocals, Waitress for the Bees.
A total of £460 was collected for Julian House and Bath Welcomes Refugees. Thank you to everyone for your support.
Come and sing with Songways choirs in the new year… all welcome.
Join our Bath choir on Wednesday evenings or the Bradford on Avon choir on Friday mornings, both led by Jane Harris.
We sing in two beautiful and spacious venues:
- Wednesdays 7:30 – 9:30pm St Swithin’s Church, Bath BA1 5LY
- Fridays 9:45 – 11:45am Holy Trinity Church, Bradford on Avon BA15 1LW
Expect a warm welcome and rewarding singing sessions filled with a wide variety of songs, rich harmonies, infectious fun and moments of stillness. There are no auditions and there is no need to read music – Jane teaches all the songs and harmonies by ear.
We relish the energy, vibrancy and variety of the songs we sing in Songways and are excited by the way singing in harmony can take us into dramatically different sound worlds. Jane plays the violin and we love to collaborate with other instrumental musicians for some of our songs – including guitar and bouzouki. Singing with Songways is also a chance to develop your voice, increasing range and resonance, releasing tension and exploring new singing styles.
Please contact Jane to find out more and join our mailing list.
