It was a glorious day for Sing at Iford in the stunning hillside gardens of Iford Manor, near Bath. Sixty singers gathered from Bath, Wiltshire, Somerset, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Cornwall. We sang at the Loggia, on the Great Terrace and in the exquisite Cloisters. All the songs and harmonies were taught on the day by Jane Harris, Director of Songways, reflecting the beauty and fragility of the natural world.
Songs included a brand new composition by Jane written in response to the poem The Open Road by Ayaz Angus Landman, and In beauty may I stand written by Jane specially for Sing at Iford two years ago. We also enjoyed readings and group vocal improvisations, singing freely held in the group sound, all amongst birdsong and the sound of the wind in the trees.
