Apollo5, the award-winning British vocal quintet is coming to Bath. Their thrilling repertoire ranges from retro jazz and pop to classical and contemporary. Their performances are highly engaging and entertaining and they excel at teaching.

Join us for a special workshop led by the outstanding Apollo5 vocalists with their own distinctive arrangements of jazz, pop and spirituals. They will teach all the songs and arrangements by ear.

Apollo5 will open the workshop with their favourite warm-ups to get the body, voice and brain ready for singing. Once everyone is warmed up, the group will use the acclaimed VOCES8 Method, a set of rhythms and melodies for layering together. Participants will be harmonising, adding rhythms and working together as an ensemble.

To round off the day in style, we will become the audience and Apollo5 will perform for us.

Concert-only tickets are also available.

Description

Apollo5 singing workshop and concert

Apollo5’s London performances have included St Martin-in-the-Fields, the London A Cappella Festival and the Royal Albert Hall. The five outstanding vocalists also perform internationally, most recently touring the USA. They released their debut studio album With a Song in my Heart in 2015 to great acclaim.

Apollo5 also leads workshops for people of all ages and abilities. Projects are designed in consultation with teachers, choir leaders or workshop organisers involved and the group moves comfortably from sessions with primary school children to coaching experienced choirs.

I can’t think of words to describe how much fun we had and how much we learned about ourselves and our singing – Workshop participant

Apollo5 is part of the charitable foundation Voces Cantabiles Music (the VCM Foundation), and is involved in its innovative education programme aiming to inspire creativity through music. The foundation has its home at the Gresham Centre, at St Anne and St Agnes Church in the heart of the City of London. In partnership with the Diocese of London, VCM has established a hub for excellence in education, outreach and the performance of vocal music.
