We had a glorious day singing at the stunning Cooper Hall, near Frome on Saturday 14 April 2018 and were pleased to welcome quite a number of people who were singing with Songways for the first time.
Jane led the group in a wonderful range of songs including the beautiful East Hill Blessing by John Harrison, Brendan Taaffe’s enchanting April Rain song, the vibrant South African church song Likhon i themba lam, her own composition Be Free and Stand in that River by Moira Smiley.
Singers had travelled from Birmingham, Gloucester, Avebury and Portishead to join local singers from the Frome, Bath and Bradford on Avon area. We were looked after superbly well with delicious coffee and lunch, which we enjoyed in spring sunshine in the delightful garden.
A wonderful workshop in a beautiful setting… and the food was amazing too!
Warmest thanks to Morag McLaren and Fay Goodridge of the Cooper Hall Foundation for the invitation to sing at Cooper Hall.
Cooper Hall is a contemporary music and performance venue within the grounds of a private home in the Somerset countryside. Built as a creative haven for use by both the residents and invited artists to perform and develop their work within the beauty and calm of this inspirational environment.
